The 35th round of the 2025/26 Premier League season will take place, with Leeds United hosting Burnley at Elland Road. Anton Stahel insists that although Burnley have already been relegated, the team's strength should not be underestimated.
Leeds United drew 2-2 with Bournemouth in their last Premier League match thanks to an own goal and a goal from Longstaff. After a five-match unbeaten run (2 wins, 3 draws), Leeds United currently sit 15th in the table with 40 points.
However, in the earlier FA Cup semi-final, Leeds United lost 0-1 to Chelsea away from home, failing to advance to the final.
Burnley, the "Caucasus," suffered a 0-1 home defeat to Manchester City in their last league match. After 34 games with a record of 4 wins, 8 draws, and 22 losses, Burnley sits in 19th place with 20 points, confirming their relegation.
Looking back at their encounters this season, Leeds United conceded goals in both halves and ultimately lost 0-2 to Burnley away from home.
Leeds United midfielder Anton Stah said, "I think it will be a very difficult game. I remember the game we played against them away from home. They are still very focused, not the kind of team that thinks 'it doesn't matter since we've already been relegated.' We have to beat them, and we have to do it."
“We know it will be difficult, just like last season. It’s always tough against Burnley because they have a very solid tactical structure and stick to their formation and tactics. So we have to be fully focused and hopefully get revenge for the game we lost to them in the first half of the season.”
Furthermore, Leeds United manager Daniel Falk stated, "There is absolutely no complacency in the team. We will focus on this game as we do on every game, and we also have great respect for our opponents. If you analyze Burnley, you'll find that they have never been completely dominated; they are always very competitive and have played many evenly matched games."
“They played well and came very close to a stunning result in their previous game against Manchester City. It’s hard to think this game will be easier just because they’ve been relegated. I think it will be more complicated because they are no longer under pressure and may play more boldly and freely.”
Daniel Falk also stated, "My team has gained experience over the past few years and knows how difficult it is to play against Burnley; their defense has always been very solid. I have great respect for that because it's not easy to break down such a defense. For that, we will remain focused and motivated."
