Counter Strike 2: G2 In-Game Leader huNter- to miss Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Rio tournament due to a leg injury..

German Counter Strike 2 powerhouse G2 announced on Tuesday via their official X (Twitter) account that their original In-Game Leader, huNter-, will miss the Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Rio tournament due to a leg injury.

According to G2's official statement, huNter- received medical attention after the injury, and his leg has been put in a cast. Due to mobility issues, he is forced to miss IEM Rio.

huNter- later explained that he suffered a fracture and injured several ligments. He is currently focusing on recovery and hopes to return to the team as soon as possible to take on future challenges.

During huNter-'s absence, G2 will promote their academy player tAk to the main team as a stand-in.

SunPayus will temporarily take over the in-game leadership duties; NertZ will also provide support.

This devastating news is undoubtedly a heavy blow to G2. Having just won the Stake Ranked Episode 1 championship, G2 has only recently replaced malbsMd with NertZ, meaning the team will face an extended roster integration period.

Stake Ranked Episode 1 was G2's third consecutive Tier 2 LAN tournament, and they've been striving to sign the Israeli rifler before the IEM Cologne registration deadline. This packed schedule means the team has almost no time to fully integrate with the new member.

huNter's absence from the Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Rio will undoubtedly exacerbate the team's predicament.

G2 can only hope he recovers in time for the BLAST Rivals which will start taking place on April 27th.

tAk will experience Tier 1 competitions for the first time after 18 months with G2 Ares, during which time he boasts an average rating of 1.11, the highest in the team.

G2's roster for the IEM Rio is as follows:

In-Game Leader / AWP-er: SunPayus

Rifler / Support: NertZ

Rifler: MATYS

Rifler: HeavyGod

Rifler: tAk (Stand-in)

Coach: sAw
