The Premier League is about to witness a crucial battle that will determine the champion this season, as Arsenal will travel to Manchester to challenge the defending champions.
Currently, Arsenal hold a six-point lead in the standings. Although a draw would be enough to maintain the current gap, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta made it clear in the pre-match press conference that the team has only one goal for this trip to the Etihad Stadium: to secure all three points and strive to extend their lead to nine points.
At the pre-match press conference, Arteta displayed a strong desire to win, and he bluntly rejected the conservative idea of aiming for a draw and striving for victory.
“We won’t spend a single second discussing a draw. Our sole purpose in preparing for every game is to win,” Arteta emphasized. “It’s a tremendous honor to play against one of the greatest teams and managers in Premier League history in a match that could decide the title race. There’s no doubt we’re here to win.”
It's worth noting that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola had earlier admitted that if Arsenal won away from home, Manchester City's title defense would be prematurely ended. Mikel Arteta, however, remained remarkably calm and composed in response.
Arteta responded: "There are still six rounds left in the league. Although this match will tip the scales in the title race, winning any game in the Premier League is extremely difficult. Even after this match, the remaining schedule will still be challenging, and we must wait and see."
