League of Legends 25.09 update is now live

Riot Games released the update notes for League of Legends 25.09, officially kicking off Season 2. This update not only brings a large number of hero adjustments and new map visual upgrades, but also introduces a far-reaching new jungle boss, Thornbound Atakhan.

In version 25.09, Gwen and Kalista were weakened due to their recent strong performance; in contrast, Leona and Annie received substantial buffs, which increased their online suppression power and influence in team battles.

The highlight of this version is the official debut of Thornbound Atakhan. As the exclusive jungle boss of Season 2, Atakhan will replace the original "Voracious" and "Destruction" forms and appear in the most frequently fought map areas in his unique form.

When a kill occurs near Atakhan, an object called "Blood Rose" will be generated. The team that successfully defeats Atakhan will receive:

• Instant Blood Rose Reward

• Clear the remaining blood roses on the map and purify them into "spiritual petals"

• Spirit Petal Effect: Provides 25% additional experience points and adaptive ability bonus

More importantly, the team that defeats Atakhan will also receive a "Soul Purification" buff. Riot officials explained that this effect will "bless the target area, slow down and damage surrounding enemies, and provide additional soul petals to the team" when killing an enemy hero.

This mechanism will greatly enhance strategic choices and resource competition in team battles, and is likely to have a profound impact on the professional competition ecosystem.

The void worm mechanism has also been adjusted:

• One of the void worms was completely removed

• Refresh time increased from 6 minutes to 8 minutes

• Kill 3 Void Larvae to gain "Void Hunger" (single Void Larva buff)

• The team that wins 2/3 will receive "heroic performance" points

In addition, the Rift Herald and summoned pets have also been changed synchronously to further adjust the early rhythm and resource control methods.

Visually, the new Season 2 map adopts the Spirit Blossom theme style. The map has a more oriental fantasy atmosphere, soft colors, and rich details, providing players with a more immersive competitive experience.
