Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert was suspended for one game after accumulating seven flagrant fouls.

According to an official announcement by James Jones, Executive Vice President and Director of Basketball Operations at the NBA, Minnesota Timberwolves starting center Rudy Gobert will be suspended without pay for one game due to accumulating his seventh flagrant foul in the 2025-26 regular season.

The suspension was triggered in Friday's game between the Timberwolves and the Dallas Mavericks, a game the Timberwolves ultimately won 122-111. However, with 29.8 seconds remaining in the second quarter, Gobert received a Flagrant Foul 1.

Prior to this game, this defensive stalwart had already accumulated six flagrant fouls. This newly added Flagrant Foul 1 brought his total flagrant fouls this season to seven, directly triggering the league's automatic suspension penalty.

According to the official disciplinary decision, Gobert will serve the suspension in tomorrow's game. He will miss the Timberwolves' game against the Philadelphia 76ers. Gobert's absence will undoubtedly have a direct impact on the team's interior defense and tactical system, forcing them to face strong opponents without their defensive anchor.

To maintain fairness and player safety, the NBA has an extremely strict scoring and penalty system for flagrant fouls. According to the league's regular season flagrant foul scoring system, once a player accumulates more than 5 points in the regular season, he will be automatically suspended after the game in which he reaches the required total points.

This penalty not only serves as a warning to Gobert personally, but also reaffirms the league's determination to strictly control malicious actions on the court. In the upcoming games, Gobert must be more careful in controlling his defensive intensity to avoid triggering the more severe "two-game suspension" penalty.
