Bored of DPS? Switching to the Competitive lane in Season 41: Warrior or Tank? (Part 2)

Lane control is crucial; it tests your earning power, thus impacting your subsequent strong period. To put it bluntly, how can someone who can't earn money buy equipment to fight against others in a one-on-one battle? A tank without tank gear won't have the defense to withstand the frequent attacks from the backline. If the enemy's attack power is greater than your armor, you'll ultimately be a squishy opponent.

Having an advantage in laning, clearing minions early allows you to steal jungle monsters or even dragon buffs. However, if the minion wave is stuck under the enemy tower, forcing you to clear minions, you leave a safe distance and become vulnerable to junglers and mages blocking your way. Similarly, if the situation is reversed and you allow the minion wave to reach your own tower, it becomes even more ridiculous, making laning meaningless and essentially being fed. Even if you want to experience a one-on-one brawl, minion wave management is key and depends entirely on player awareness.

Back to the starting point, as a novice, you definitely don’t want to play a hero who cares about too many details. You should first learn to focus on the line of soldiers. If you have to choose between a warrior and a tank, the tank will actually be more suitable.

Xiahou Dun

Isn't Xiahou Dun a warrior? That's how the outside world perceives him: with control and displacement, and incredibly strong sustained damage output, he doesn't look like a tank at all. Admittedly, his attributes and mechanics are more like a warrior, but his gameplay is similar to a tank's. That's what makes him so appealing. Don't worry about tough opposition during the laning phase. His second skill generates a shield, and his passive health regeneration provides enough defense for a mindless laning phase. If anything goes wrong, his ultimate skill chains and displacement, briefly stuns, and he's proficient in endurance, defense, and recovery, with decent wave clearing efficiency. If you want to experience the gameplay of a warrior without too much complexity, Xiahou Dun is undoubtedly the best choice.

Things to note are that you have to fight for the Red Armor in the early stage, remember to go to support after clearing the line, don't stay where you are and can't run away, then block the line of soldiers to contain the opponent, try to make good use of the time when the opponent is not in the confrontation road, establish an economic advantage faster than him, and even push down the first defense tower, then you will have more freedom.

Regarding his combo, don't use it to take the initiative. It will be more effective to help your teammates keep people alive. Save your skills for the critical moment to save your life. His control is the only reasonable operation. If you stand and attack the opponent and use up all your pure normal attacks, you won't be able to hold on for long.
