Chelsea announced on its official website on Thursday that the club has signed France U19s international midfielder wonderkid Mathis Amougou from Saint-Etienne.
According to the Premier League giants' official statement, Amougou has signed on a long-term eight-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2033.
After completing the joining procedures, Amougou, who was interviewed by Chelsea's official website for the first time, said: "I am very happy. It is an honour to sign with a big club like Chelsea. They believe in young players and they train us very well."
About Mathis Amougou
Mathis Amougou, who is only 19 years old, was born in Le Blanc-Mesnil, France on January 16, 2006. He is 1.77 meters tall and primarily plays as a center midfielder. He can also play as an attacking midfielder and defensive midfielder. He has dual nationalities of France and Cameroon.
Amougou joined the youth academy of a local non-league club in Le Blanc-Mesnil at the age of 6, joined Torcy's youth academy in 2014, joined Saint-Etienne's youth academy in 2021, and completed his Saint-Etienne first-team debut in a Coupe de France match in September 2023. He was only 17 years old at the time.
During his one-and-a-half-year spell with Les Verts, Amougou has played 19 times for the Ligue 1 club in all competitions so far, without scoring any goals or providing any assists.
