The current situation of ADC players is worrying. Riot admits that fundamental problems affect the gaming experience

In League of Legends, the gaming experience of ADC players is not ideal, and this is not a simple issue of strength or weakness, but a "fundamental problem" that Riot is still working hard to solve.

Among the five major professions in League of Legends, each position has its own unique strengths and weaknesses, but ADC seems to be suffering the greatest setbacks at the moment. According to a recent game experience survey launched by Riot to players, game designer David "Phreak" Turley revealed that the feedback score of ADC is only "neutral", while the scores of other positions are positive. This makes ADC "one of the least popular professions among players."

However, although the data shows that ADC players are not satisfied with their gaming experience, game analysts such as Phreak believe that ADC is not simply a weak role, but has some core problems that are difficult to solve.

Phreak mentioned in the video that one of the main problems with the ADC role is that it always needs to rely on the support, which requires the player to communicate and cooperate with teammates. Compared with more independent roles such as top lane, jungle and mid lane, ADCs are generally lower in the game because they need to share experience with the support.

Although some teams use "lane swap tactics" (Fearless Drafts) to reduce experience loss in high-end games, this method is not always effective because the enemy can target it through mirror lane swaps, making the ADC's experience problem still difficult to solve.

Most ADCs need a long time to develop in order to deal decisive damage in the mid-to-late game, but if they cannot grow smoothly, the experience of ADC players will become extremely painful. Many players have almost no sense of participation in the game in a disadvantageous game, because in the absence of equipment and levels, it is difficult for them to influence the progress of the game, which is one of the reasons why the ADC role makes players feel powerless.

Phreak also pointed out that the lack of diverse hero selection for the ADC role further limits the players’ room for development. Although there are many strong ADC heroes in the current version, they almost all need an excellent support to make up for their shortcomings.

Riot has not yet found a clear solution, but Phreak mentioned that a possible balance method is to weaken the support and make the ADC more influential. However, doing so will weaken the gaming experience of the support player and destroy the balance of the entire bottom lane ecosystem. Therefore, Riot is still exploring a more reasonable solution, and the specific change plan has not yet been announced.
