League of Legends: LYON terminated the contract of their Canadian-Chinese top laner, Frankie Lin (ID: Zamudo) due to persistent visa issues..

Mexican League of Legends club LYON announced on Sunday via their official X (Twitter) account that they have terminated the contract of their Canadian-Chinese top laner, Frankie Lin (ID: Zamudo).

According to LYON's official statement, despite all efforts, Frankie's visa issues could not be resolved satisfactorily due to uncontrollable external factors, ultimately forcing the club to regretfully terminate his contract.

Nevertheless, the entire club remains very grateful for Frankie's contributions and efforts for the team, and wishes him all the best for the future.

In fact, due to visa issues, LYON had already marked Frankie's status as "inactive" since January 12th and had previously loaned him out to Isurus.

During this spell, LYON had indicated that Frankie might return to the team to participate in the 2026 LCS Lock-In, but this plan ultimately did not materialize.

Frankie's position has been taken by former 100 Thieves top laner Dhokla.

About Frankie Lin (ID: Zamudo)

Frankie Lin (ID: Zamudo),  who is only 21 years old, was born on May 17, 2004, into a Chinese-Canadian family. He became a professional League of Legends esports player in 2022, playing as a top laner.

Frankie previously played for teams such as Wildcard, AOE, Tempest, Dragonsteel, CCG Glorp, and DarkZero, and also represented Maryville University and St. Louis University esports teams. During these spells, he won several C-tier tournaments.

In July 2025, Frankie joined LYON and was confirmed as their starting top laner for Split 3 of the LTA North.

However, this announcement was disrupted 20 days later due to visa issues for Frankie.

At that time, LYON urgently substituted Yayo for Frankie and confirmed that the latter would not be able to participate in the first week of the tournament.

In August 2025, LYON announced that Frankie would be demoted to their academy team, with Srtty serving as a substitute for the remainder of the season.

However, due to a violation of the rules, Frankie was banned from playing with LYON's academy team in the LRN, forcing the team to loan him out to Isurus.

During his loan spell at Isurus, Frankie helped the team win the 2026 LTA South Promotion Tournament.
