About Jacek Magiera
Born on December 30, 1976, in Częstochowa, Poland, Magiera was 1.85 meters tall and played as a defensive midfielder, but could also play as a center-back.
Magiera joined Raków Częstochowa's youth academy at a young age and completed his Raków Częstochowa first-team debut in March 1995.
In January 1997, Magiera moved to Legia Warsaw.
During his nine-year spell at Legia Warsaw, Magiera won one Polish Ekstraklasa title, one Polish Cup, one Polish Super Cup, and one Polish League Cup with the club.
During this spell, he also played on-loan for Widzew Łódź and returned to Raków Częstochowa on-loan.
In the summer of 2006, Magiera joined Cracovia, but retired in December of the same year.
After retiring, Magiera focused on coaching. He initially served as assistant coach for both the Legia Warsaw reserve team and the Poland U18s national team. In May 2016, he was appointed head coach of Zagłębie Sosnowiec.
In September of the same year, Magiera returned to Legia Warsaw as head coach. During his tenure, he led the club to one Polish Ekstraklasa title, becoming one of the few men in football history to win a league title with the same club as both a player and a head coach. However, he was sacked a year later after failing to qualify for the UEFA Europa League.
In March 2018, Magiera was appointed head coach of the Poland U20s national team. In the summer of 2020, he also took on the role of head coach of the Poland U19s national team at the same time.
In March 2021, Magiera was appointed as Śląsk Wrocław head coach, but was sacked in December 2024 due to the club mired in relegation battle.
In July 2025, Magiera was appointed as assistant coach of the Poland national team.
During this time, he was with the team in the 2026 FIFA World Cup in United States, Canada and Mexico European qualifiers finals, but they failed to qualify for the main tournament due to a late 3-2 defeat to Sweden.
