Chelsea will host Manchester City at Stamford Bridge in the next round of the Premier League. João Pedro said in an interview that he has been trying to maintain a positive attitude to help his teammates and is really enjoying playing in the Premier League.
João Pedro, from Brazil, joined Chelsea in July last year and has scored 14 goals and provided 5 assists in the Premier League this season, demonstrating outstanding performance.
"I'm extremely happy, of course. I think this is one of the best seasons of my life," said 24-year-old Chelsea striker João Pedro. "Expectations for me are very high, so I always try to maintain a positive attitude to help my teammates. If I don't score in a game, Reece James and my teammates will come over and tell me that I must score in the next game, and I will try my best to keep my stats at a high level."
“When I came here, my goal was to win a title for Chelsea and give my best. When I was a kid watching the Premier League, our dream was to play for one of the English giants. Now that the opportunity has come, I have to enjoy it to the fullest.”
João Pedro shared, “Since coming to England, I had to quickly adapt to the physical intensity of the Premier League and the Championship. I learned a lot in the Championship during my two years there, but the technical level isn’t as high as in the Premier League. So when I returned to the Premier League, I was ready to play in those kinds of games, and now I’m enjoying it.”
"Everything is completely different since I came to Chelsea. There are many high-level players around me, which makes my job easier. I will enjoy the game when we have possession, and at the same time try to incorporate the techniques I learned in Brazil into the game. I really enjoy working with Rossenier because he gives me the freedom to do what I do best."
In the earlier FA Cup quarter-final, Chelsea secured a 7-0 victory over Port Vale, thanks to goals from Joreil Hatto, João Pedro, Adarabioyo, André Santos, Estevan Willian, and Ganacho, thus continuing their title challenge.
João Pedro continued, "Manchester City have a very strong squad and are in good form, but we are Chelsea, and we are equally strong. I think this game will be decided by the details; whoever makes fewer mistakes will win."
"There are still many tough games ahead, but everything depends on ourselves. The whole team is very focused on what needs to be done, and hopefully we can achieve the goals set by the manager and the club."
