Riot Games announced that it will cut hero prices in League of Legends by 50% to help new players unlock their favorite heroes faster.
Currently, there are 170 heroes in League of Legends, each with unique skills and gameplay. For new players, unlocking all heroes has always been a long process, often taking months or even years to accumulate enough blue essence (BE) to buy more heroes. The upcoming 25.05 version update (launched on March 5) will significantly reduce the price of heroes, allowing new players to expand their hero pool more easily.
The player community has long been asking for a reduction in hero prices, believing that the cumbersome acquisition process limits the gaming experience of new players. In this update, Riot Games cut the BE price of all heroes by 50%, which means that a hero that originally cost 6300 BE can now be unlocked for only 3150 BE. This change will significantly reduce the difficulty for new players to collect heroes, allowing them to build their own lineup faster.
In addition to lowering the price of heroes, Riot has also adjusted the battle pass for Chapter 1, Act 2 of the 2025 season. The new system no longer gives away skins directly, but allows players to obtain Hextech chests and keys through the battle pass. Eight free chests can be collected in each chapter, providing players with more reward channels.
The hero price reduction will take effect when version 25.05 is officially launched, which is March 5, 2025. This update is designed to optimize the gaming experience for new players, allowing them to try different heroes more easily and gain a deeper understanding of the rich hero lineup of League of Legends.
