Shams: Mavericks point guard Brandon Williams confirmed his promotion to a two-year contract


According to ESPN's Shams Charania on Tuesday, the Dallas Mavericks are about to sign 25-year-old local point guard Brandon Williams. The two sides signed a two-year standard NBA contract until June 2027.


Brandon Williams played for the Arizona Wildcats of the NCAA Division I during college. After failing to be drafted into the NBA in 2021, he joined the Westchester Knicks, the G League affiliate of the New York Knicks. He then played for the Portland Trail Blazers, College Park Skyhawks, Osceola Magic, Dallas Mavericks and their affiliate Texas Legends, playing a total of 72 NBA regular season games, averaging 16.8 minutes per game, contributing 8.6 points, 1.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists.


So far this season, Williams has played 31 times for the Mavericks, averaging 8.3 points, 1.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 14.8 minutes per game, shooting 51.1% from the field and 37.9% from three-point range. He mainly plays a rotation role in the Mavericks and has helped the team to rank 10th in the Western Conference with a record of 38 wins and 41 losses.
