FC Dallas officially announced the signings of Luciano Acosta, Álvaro Augusto and Osaze Urhoghide..


FC Dallas announced on its official website on Thursday that the club has signed Argentina attacking midfielder Luciano Acosta, young Brazilian-Portuguese defender Álvaro Augusto and Dutch-English defender Osaze Urhoghide from FC Cincinnati, Portimonense and Amiens respectively.


According to FC Dallas' official statement, Acosta has signed on a short-term one-year deal with the club which will only run until the winter of 2026, with an option to extend for a further year, and will occupy a Designated Player (DP) slot.


Augusto has signed a short-term on a two-year deal with the club which will only run until the winter of 2027, with an option to extend for another 1 to 2 years.


Meanwhile, Urhoghide has signed on a three-year deal with the club which runs until the winter of 2028, with an option to extend for a further year.


In order to sign Acosta, FC Dallas paid a total of $5 million in transfer fees to FC Cincinnati, not including the bonus and add-on clauses which can reach up to $1 million, making this deal the largest trade in Major League Soccer (MLS) clubs history.


About Luciano Acosta


Luciano Acosta, 30, was born on May 31, 1994 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He is 1.60 meters tall and primarily plays as an attacking midfielder. He can also play as a center forward. He holds a US green card.


Acosta played for the Club Comunicaciones youth academy when he was a child. At the age of 14, he joined the Boca Juniors youth academy and completed his Boca Juniors first-team debut in February 2014.


In January of the following year, Acosta was loaned-out to Estudiantes de La Plata.


In February 2016, Acosta was loaned-out to D.C. United, and his ownership was officially bought out in January of the following year.


During his three-year spell with D.C. United, Acosta attracted the attention of Paris Saint-Germain with his outstanding performances.


After leaving the club when his contract has expired in January 2020, Acosta joined Atlas as a free agent.


In March of the following year, Acosta joined FC Cincinnati for $3 million.


During his three-year spell with FC Cincinnati, Acosta played 151 times for the MLS club in all competitions, scored 54 goals, assisted 53 times, won the MLS Supporters Shield once with the club, was selected as an MLS All-Star three times, and was elected the 2023 MLS MVP.


About Álvaro Augusto


Álvaro Augusto, who is only 19 years old, was born in Brazil on April 17, 2005. He is 1.93 meters tall and plays as a center back. He has dual Brazilian and Portuguese nationality.


Augusto joined the youth academy of French non-league club USM Saran at an early age. In August 2024, he joined the Portimonense youth academy, and soon began to play for the Portimonense U23s team.


In the first half of the season, Augusto played 14 times for the Liga Portugal 2 club's U23s team in all competitions, scoring 1 goal and assisting 1 time.


About Osaze Urhoghide


Osaze Urhoghide, 24, was born in Rotterdam, the Netherlands on July 4, 2000. He is 1.88 meters tall and primarily plays as a center back. He can also play as a left back or right back. He has the nationalities of the Netherlands, England and Nigeria.


Urhoghide played in the youth academies of the English non-league club Hounslow United and AFC Wimbledon, but was not promoted to the first-team and was released in the summer of 2019.


After leaving AFC Wimbledon, Urhoghide joined Sheffield Wednesday as a free agent and completed his Wednesday debut in an English FA Cup match in January 2020.


During his time at Sheffield Wednesday, Urhoghide attracted the attention of Crystal Palace, Watford, Leeds United and Club Brugge with his outstanding performances, but he eventually chose to join Celtic for £350,000 in July 2021.


Due to the lack of playing opportunities during his time at the Bhoys, Urhoghide was loaned-out to KV Oostende for a year and a half on the 2022 winter transfer window deadline day.


In July 2023, Urhoghide joined Amiens for €500,000.


During his one-and-a-half-year spell at Amiens, Urhoghide played 41 times for the Ligue 2 club in all competitions, scoring 3 goals and providing 1 assist.
