France wins the right to host the 2031 FIBA Basketball World Cup; Wenbanyama becomes one of the key players.

April 23 - FIBA officially announced that France has been awarded the right to host the 2031 Men's Basketball World Cup. Meanwhile, Japan has been awarded the right to host the 2026 Women's Basketball World Cup, which will be held in Tokyo.
In its statement, FIBA said that both France and Japan are countries with experience in organizing world-class large-scale events, having hosted the 2024 Paris Olympics and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics respectively, demonstrating their mature event operation capabilities.
According to the plan, the 2031 FIBA Basketball World Cup will be jointly hosted by the French cities of Paris, Lyon and Lille, from August 29 to September 14 , with the final stage to be held in Paris.
In addition, French star Victor Wambanyama is one of the main highlights. Wambanyama led the French team to a silver medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, scoring 26 points in the final against the United States , a truly outstanding performance.
