Official: Timberwolves sign Jalen Clark to two-way contract with Bones Hyland


The Minnesota Timberwolves announced Thursday that they have signed Jalen Clark to a two-year, fully guaranteed NBA contract. Per team policy, the specific terms of the contract were not disclosed.


The 23-year-old Jaylen Clark plays as a shooting guard and was selected by the Timberwolves with the 53rd pick in the second round in 2023. He played 20 G-League games for the Timberwolves' affiliate, the Iowa Timberwolves, averaging 13.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.6 steals per game.


So far this season, Clark has played 18 games for the Timberwolves, averaging 4.9 points, 1.4 rebounds, 0.6 assists and 0.94 steals per game. He mainly plays a rotation role in the Timberwolves, helping the Timberwolves to temporarily rank 8th in the Western Conference with a record of 23 wins and 27 losses.


After Clark confirmed his promotion, the Timberwolves signed Bones Hyland with his vacated two-way contract. The 24-year-old Bones Hyland is a forward-guard swingman who was selected by the Denver Nuggets with the 26th pick in the first round in 2021. He has played for the Los Angeles Clippers since February 2023 and has played 20 times this season, averaging 7.2 points, 1.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game.


So far, Hyland has played in 182 NBA regular season games, averaging 9.7 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. He also averaged 7.7 points, 1.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 13 playoff games.
