Newcastle United CEO: No intention to sell Isaac, contract extension to be discussed this summer

Newcastle United chief executive Darren Iles has made it clear there are no plans to sell Alexander Isak at the moment.

The 25-year-old Alexander Isak was born in Solna, Sweden, and mainly plays as a center forward. He came from AIK Solna's youth training and then played for Dortmund, Willem II and Real Sociedad.

In August 2022, Isaac transferred to Newcastle United for 70 million euros. So far, he has made 98 appearances for Newcastle United, scoring 57 goals and providing 9 assists.

With his outstanding performance on the field, Isaac has triggered frequent transfer rumors this season. Darren Ellis is negative about selling Isaac, and his confidence comes from Newcastle United's latest 2023/24 season financial report. The financial report shows that Newcastle United's loss in the 2023/24 fiscal year is 11.1 million pounds, far lower than the 71.8 million pounds in the previous fiscal year. The improvement in financial conditions is mainly due to the growth of Champions League revenue and 70 million pounds of player transfer income: Last summer, Newcastle sold Allan Saint-Maximin, Elliott Anderson and Yankuba Minter to balance the previous signings.

With the financial pressure eased, Eales reiterated that Newcastle has no intention of selling key players such as Isaac: "They have long-term contracts with the club. We have absolutely no intention of selling players, and there is no external pressure."

"Our boss is ambitious and wants the club to continue to improve. From this perspective, selling key players such as Isak is undoubtedly ridiculous."

Isaac's contract with Newcastle United will last until 2028. Speaking of his future, Iles said: "Isaac's contract has a few years left, and we will discuss a new contract with him like we did with Joelinton, Bruno Guimaraes and Anthony Gordon. We plan to discuss a contract extension with him this summer."

"As a club, our goal is to be at the top. We want to keep the best players. The fact that Isaac is talked about so much is proof of his value. However, we have no intention of selling any players."
