Liverpool announced on their official website on Thursday that vice-captain and legendary Scotland international left wing-back Andy Robertson will leave the club at the end of the season.
According to Liverpool's official statement, after careful consideration, Robertson expressed his desire to leave the club when his contract expires this summer, and the club has reluctantly respected his decision.
Despite his impending departure, Robertson will continue to dedicate himself to giving his all in every game for the remainder of the season to ensure he leaves the club in the best possible way.
After news of his impending departure was announced, Robertson, in another interview with Liverpool's official website, said: "I feel much better now that things are clear. The hardest part of the past few weeks and even months was that some people close to me on the training ground didn't know, and more importantly, the fans didn't know either. The closer it got to the end of the season, the more questions they asked."
"I've always said that the fans are the most important people at this club, and I felt it was time to tell them what happened and that this would be my last season with the club."
"I think it's better to be open about it so that I can fully commit to the team from now until the end of the season. I think it's important to do this, and I've always done it. But a truly emotional farewell, telling the fans, what they and everyone connected to this club mean to me, that's something for the end of the season to see."
"I don't feel quite ready yet. I just want to speak out so I can be honest with everyone."
"Leaving a club like Liverpool is never easy. For the past nine years, it has been an integral part of my and my family's lives. But for me, players will leave, others will leave, the only constant is the club, and of course, the fans."
"I've had nine wonderful years here. I think everyone knows, especially in the last year or so, I had opportunities to leave, but I didn't take them because leaving this club is just too difficult. I wouldn't trade anything for this decision."
"But the world of football is ever-changing, and teams come and go. I think it's time to leave and move on to my next destination, to the next stage of my career. I will always cherish the wonderful memories at this club. I poured my heart and soul into it for nine years, and I have almost no regrets."
"I've grown a lot as a man and as a person. This club will always mean a lot to me, and the fans mean a lot to me too. It's been a truly incredible journey."
"From the moment I stepped into Melwood training ground in 2017 until my last day at the AXA training center, I gave my all for this club."
"I think it's this spirit that has made the club successful over the past period, everyone giving their all. As a player, we have a responsibility to finish this season in the most positive way possible. This isn't the season we hoped for, but we must do our best to finish it in the best way possible."
"Personally, that's what motivates me from now until the end of the season. I know my journey is coming to an end, I know it's been an incredible journey, but I will never let up."
"This club means a lot to me. The fans mean a lot to me. The people associated with the club mean a lot to me. I think I still have a responsibility to give everything for this club until the last moment of my life, and I've been doing that for the past nine years, and I'm very proud of that."
Robertson will become the second legendary Liverpool player to leave at the end of this season, following Egypt international right winger Mohamed Salah.
It's worth mentioning that this is the second time Robertson has been linked with leaving Liverpool in 2026.
In January, Tottenham Hotspur made an offer for the Reds' left wing-back, whose assisting prowess is arguably one of the best in the club's history, but he refused the transfer at the time. Now, he will end his nine-year stint at Anfield after playing for Liverpool.
