Sky Sports' renowned Italian transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, confirmed on Wednesday through his official column that Liverpool is interested in signing Bournemouth and Ajax left-wingback wonderkids Milos Kerkez and Jorrel Hato.
Romano said in his column that in order to find a potential backup and future successor for the team's main left-wing backs Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas, Liverpool has decided to include Kerkez and Hato in the club's list of potential signings in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Realizing that Kerkez and Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim have the same agent, and that the Red Devils are also interested in competing for the Bournemouth wonderkid's signature, the Reds will not focus on putting all their targets on Kerkez.
In order to prevent the club from the situation where after failing to pursue Martin Zubimendi during the summer transfer window this season and not having enough time to find another target candidate for their main defensive midfielders Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo from happening again, Liverpool has drawn up a backup plan.
The backup plan is to sign Ajax wonderkid Jorrel Hato.
Romano revealed that since head coach Arne Slot and assistant coach Sipke Hulshoff had coached at Feyenoord previously, the two already had a certain degree of basic knowledge of Hato.
In addition, the other assistant coach Jonny Heitinga had served as an interim head coach at Ajax and worked with Hato, so under Heitinga's recommendation, Slot and Hulshoff strengthened their belief in bringing in Hato.
Currently, Liverpool has begun to send more scouts to observe the performances of Kerkez and Hato closely in preparation for making more detailed match data analysis.
Sporting Director Richard Hughes is also ready to contact the agents of the two players at any time, while hoping to resolve the contract renewal issues of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate and Luis Diaz as soon as possible.
