2025 Esports World Cup CS2 event details announced, 16 teams compete for $1.25 million

On March 12, local time, the E-Sports World Cup 2025 (EWC 2025) officially announced some details of the CS2 event. The competition is scheduled to be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from August 20 to 24, and 16 teams will compete for a total prize of $1.25 million.
Of the 16 CS2 teams in EWC 2025, 15 will be invited based on the Valve Regional Rankings (VRS), with the final spot going to the winner of the Asian eSports Championship League (ACL), which was held in China by Hero Esports in June this year with a prize pool of $300,000.
According to the official announcement, the 2025 EWC e-sports World Cup "CS2" project will have five days of single-elimination matches: six round-of-16 matches will be held on August 20, and two quarter-finals will be held after the remaining two round-of-16 matches are completed on August 21. The remaining two quarter-finals will continue on August 22, and the semi-finals will be held on August 23. The EWC finals will officially start on August 24.
As for the bonuses, the specific distribution is as follows:
Champion: $500,000
Runner-up: $230,000
Third and fourth place: $100,000 each
5th to 8th place: US$40,000 each
9th to 16th place: US$20,000 each
