Bournemouth officially announced on Tuesday that the 19-year-old Argentine left-back Julio Soler has transferred from Lanus. He will wear the No. 20 jersey and the contract is for four and a half years.
Regarding Soler's arrival, Bournemouth's director of football operations Thiago Pinto said: "We are very pleased to welcome Julio to Bournemouth Football Club. He is one of the players we have been following closely and we have been impressed by his progress.
“Julio is a talented young player,” added Simon Francis, Bournemouth’s first-team technical director. “He is highly sought after in the transfer market and we are delighted to have him in our squad.”
"Given the way Anthony and his coaching staff develop players' potential, we look forward to watching Julio's progress."
According to Argentine sports journalist Uriel Yukte, Soler's transfer fee is 8 million euros plus 3 million floating. Argentine Youth will receive about 3 million euros from this transfer because they own 40% of Soler's ownership.
Julio Soler joined Lanus from Argentinos Youth at the age of 9 and made his first-team and professional debut in the Argentine Professional League Cup on May 1, 2022. So far, he has played 58 times for Lanus and provided 2 assists.
Soler also played with Argentina in the 2024 Paris Olympics, starting in four consecutive games. In October of the same year, he was called up to the Argentina national team for the first time by Lionel Scaloni.
After completing the signing, Soler said: "I am very happy. Joining Bournemouth is something I have longed for and it is a very important step for me."
"I chose Bournemouth because of the warmth they showed me when they first contacted me. They chose me, not me choosing them, and I'm very happy to be here."
Asked if he had a message for Bournemouth fans, Soler said: "As Argentines, I think they should understand that we will give our all.
"All efforts will be dedicated to them in order to take the club to the next level."
