Philadelphia 76ers star Paul George will miss at least the rest of the regular season due to injections in his left adductor muscle and left knee.
According to ESPN's Shams Charania, George has been consulting doctors over the past week to find the best treatment for his groin and knee injuries. He has been playing with injuries this season and has been plagued by groin, finger and knee injuries. It is also reported that George had injected painkillers for five consecutive games before the NBA All-Star Game in February.
The 76ers confirmed that George will miss at least six weeks after surgery, and this season's regular season will be over in advance. They are currently ranked 12th in the Eastern Conference with a record of 23 wins and 44 losses, and their playoff prospects are slim.
George, 34, plays mainly as a small forward and was selected by the Indiana Pacers with the 10th pick in the first round in 2010. After playing for the Pacers for seven years, he played for the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Los Angeles Clippers, and signed a four-year contract with the Philadelphia 76ers in July 2024.
So far this season, George has played 41 times for the 76ers, averaging 16.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game, shooting 43% from the field and 35.8% from three-point range. According to ESPN statistics, his appearances this season are the fewest in the past three years, and it is the fifth time in six seasons that he has not played 60 games.
