Auxerre officially announced on Tuesday that it has loaned Hanoia Masengo from Burnley until the end of the season. He will wear the No. 80 jersey and there is a buyout clause in the contract.
The 23-year-old Hanoia Massengo was born in Villepinte, France, and mainly plays as a central midfielder or defensive midfielder. He joined Monaco's youth training in 2016 and made his debut for the first team in the Champions League on November 6, 2018.
Masengo then moved to Bristol City in 2019 and joined Auxerre on loan in January 2023. As of the end of the loan in June, he had played 15 times for Auxerre, including 14 Ligue 1 games. Auxerre was also impressed by Masengo's performance at the time. They said in a statement: "Hannoa quickly won the love of the fans with his outstanding performance and conquered the fans with his humble attitude and natural affinity."
In August 2023, Masengo joined Burnley as a free agent after leaving Bristol City. However, his chances of playing for Burnley were limited, with only 13 appearances so far, 11 of which were as a substitute.
