Nico Paz's father Pablo said his son wants to stay in Como for at least another year.
Nico Paz, who is only 20 years old, is a leader among Argentina's new generation of attackers. He made his first-team debut for his parent club Real Madrid on November 8, 2023, and moved to Como in August 2024 to seek more playing opportunities.
So far, Nico Paz has made 27 appearances in Como, scoring 6 goals and providing 6 assists. His outstanding performance and great potential have attracted the attention of many European giants, including Inter Milan.
Inter Milan vice president Javier Zanetti and Nico's father Pablo Paz were teammates in the Argentina national team and remained in close contact after retiring. As the rumors about Paz and Inter Milan continued to ferment, a series of actions by the two intensified the speculation: last weekend, Zanetti watched the game between Como and Venice live. Pablo appeared in Milan on Tuesday and had dinner with Zanetti.
However, Pablo denied that the meeting was related to the transfer. In an interview with La Provincia di Como, he made it clear: "Of course not, Javier and I are very good friends. We were roommates in the national team, imagine. It's just a gathering between friends, we meet from time to time."
Talking about why Nico Paz chose Como, Pablo revealed: "There were at least four other options at the time, including Fiorentina and Stuttgart. However, we very much recognized Como's plan. Fabregas also played a key role in it - he communicated with us and explained to us that Nico would get playing opportunities that suited his style at Como. The conversation with Fabregas was very important to us."
As for Nico Paz's future, Pablo said frankly: "If you ask Nico what he thinks, he will undoubtedly choose to stay in Como for another year. He is very happy in Como, and working with Fabregas is like taking a university master's course. He likes everything about Como - the team, teammates and fans. I also agree with his idea. Of course, the final decision still needs to consider higher-level interests. But staying for another year should be a good choice."
