BLAST, the well-known CS2 e-sports event organizer, officially announced that the first BLAST Rivals will be moved from Monterrey, Mexico to Copenhagen, Denmark.
BLAST explicitly pointed out that the reason for moving the event to Denmark was "unforeseen logistical challenges". The statement continued: "We are still looking forward to the BLAST competition and are committed to creating an unforgettable event experience for players and spectators."
“While we are unable to hold the event in Mexico this time, we look forward to returning there in the future.”
BLAST Showdown is scheduled to be held from April 30 to May 4, 2025. This event follows BLAST Bounty, BLAST Rising and BLAST Open, and constitutes an important part of BLAST's new event system.
There are eight CS teams participating in this competition, of which the top four teams in VRS points will be directly invited, and the other four wildcard teams are from Europe, North America, South America and Asia. BLAST plans to invest $8.5 million for this, covering the event prize money, entry fees and incentive mechanisms.
According to the official statement, each team can receive a prize of $81,250, but must fulfill the promotion and commercial obligations of the event. Six teams will advance to the knockout stage through a double-elimination system, and the final champion will be decided through a best-of-five system.
