Six-time NBA All-Star Jimmy Butler said he has "got his happiness back" after completing his trade from the Miami Heat to the Golden State Warriors.
The 35-year-old was suspended three times by the Heat in the 2025 season for behavioral issues, including "conduct detrimental to the team," missing team flights and leaving the game early during practice. During this period, the Heat had made it clear that they were willing to listen to trade offers for Butler, who has not appeared since January 21.
In the end, the Warriors reached a deal with the Heat: the Warriors sent Andrew Wiggins, Kyle Anderson and a protected first-round pick in 2025 in exchange for Butler.
Facing the trade rumors in the past month, Butler said after joining the Warriors: "All this is in the past, and I am now looking forward."
"I'm happy to be here, I'm happy to be needed again. I feel like I'm going to be back to my best, so I'm all smiles now."
He also revealed that he is maintaining high-intensity training and regaining his love for basketball: "I have been training and doing everything I should do. I know that now I have found happiness again. This is a brand new environment and brand new teammates."
