German Cup - Stuttgart beat RB Leipzig 3-1 and will meet Bielefeld in the final

In the 2024/25 German Cup semi-finals, Stuttgart faced RB Leipzig at home. They eventually won 3-1 with goals from Stiller, Waltermader and Löwelling, and met Bielefeld in the final.

First Half

Stuttgart had a dream start just 5 minutes into the game: Cesco made a mistake in clearing the ball with his header, and Stiller scored the first goal with a volley from outside the penalty area. RB Leipzig was not to be outdone even though they were one goal behind. In the 15th minute, Baku made a steal from Levering and sent a diagonal pass. Openda's shot from the left side of the penalty area was blocked by Nubel in the near corner. In the 31st minute, Jerzy headed the ball in the penalty area, but Harvey Simmons' shot from the top of the arc was saved again. In the 34th minute, Simmons sent a straight pass from the frontcourt, and Openda broke into the penalty area and shot, but was still blocked by Nubel.

Second Half

In the second half, Mittelstadt sent a cross from the frontcourt. In the 55th minute, Waltermade headed the ball in the penalty area but was blocked by Van der Ward. Only two minutes later, he and Demirovic hit the wall and then pushed the ball into the goal, helping Stuttgart expand the score to 2-1.

In the 62nd minute, Karazor made a mistake in clearing the ball in the penalty area, and Orban took the opportunity to assist Cesco to score. Although RB Leipzig took advantage of this opportunity to pull one back, Stuttgart still completely secured the victory in the 73rd minute: Stiller took a corner kick from the left, and Waltermade headed the ball from close range but was cleared by Baumgartner on the goal line. Levering took the opportunity to make a supplementary shot and changed the score to 3-1.

In the 87th minute, Baumgartner sent a cross from the right, and Cesco's shot hit the crossbar in front of the goal. RB Leipzig failed to make any further progress and eventually lost by two goals and missed the final.
