The Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) announced on its official website on Sunday that former BC.Game Swedish Rifler joel was permanently banned for having cheating hardware program on his computer.
According to the ESIC's official statement, they have first received allegations of joel's suspected cheating in August 2024, and announced at that time that they would temporarily ban him.
After several months of investigation, ESIC found that joel had installed a cheating hardware program on his computer that could automatically aim at opponents and trigger the opponent's hit rate to be automatically increased.
joel was disqualified for the first time when the organizer Eden's server's Akros anti-cheat system detected that his computer had a cheating hardware program, when he was participating in the CCT Season 2 Europe Series 7 match against the Ukrainian team B8 while representing BC.Game.
Afterwards, after investigation and verification by the officials, it was found that joel's computer did have a premium paid cheating hardware program called "Asdfware EFI bootkit", which was no different from blatant cheating to create unfair competition for opponents in order to increase their own winning rate.
Therefore, ESIC is obligated give to sentence the player, who had previously played for Monte and GODSENT, to a permanent ban for violating multiple rules and seriously breaching fair competition rules.
ESIC also revealed that although joel had admitted his allegations, he had once dishonestly refused to cooperate during the investigation and even openly sent threatening letters to intimidate the authorities, which proved that the player's actions no longer allowed any team to continue to employ him as a professional player, nor to allow him to change to other positions.
Previously charged for suspicious behaviour
It is worth mentioning that this is actually not the first time that former BC.Game player who was charged for misconduct.
As early as September 2023, joel, who was still playing for GODSENT at the time, was accused of having made 17 illegal bets on his team's multiple matches, including two times when he bet against his team that they would lose the game.
After receiving the report, ESIC immediately ordered joel to be temporarily suspended for investigation.
In the end, due to insufficient evidence, although the 20-year-old Swedish professional Counter Strike 2 e-sports player, who once had a bright future, revealed in November 2023 that he did have a serious habit of "addiction to gambling", the accusation that he "bet against his team to lose the game" was a false accusation deliberately framed by some people who were hostile to him.
His ban was also lifted by ESIC in January 2024 at that time. Unexpectedly, only nearly a year later, joel was in trouble again for blatant cheating. His behaviour of ruining his bright future is really a pity for him.
