Arteta believes FA Cup is very important for Arsenal

Arsenal are about to play against Manchester United in the FA Cup, and coach Mikel Arteta believes the FA Cup is very important for Arsenal.

So far, Arsenal has won 14 FA Cup trophies. The last time Arsenal won the FA Cup was in the 2019-20 season, which was Arteta's first season as Arsenal coach. Arteta hopes that the team can set a record this season and win the 15th FA Cup.

At the pre-match press conference, Arteta said: "The FA Cup means a lot to our history. We have won it 14 times and this competition is closely linked to us.

“It’s a fantastic game against such a big club and it’s a special moment, considering the huge crowds they will be bringing, it’s a very important game.”

“I was really happy and proud when we won the FA Cup because it was a very difficult period and it was very emotional. It was difficult to take over the team midway through the season, then go home for two months and then start competing again in these circumstances. But I am very happy with the result.

“I just hope to replicate the same result but share it with more people. We have to be louder, more positive and definitely have an edge over them. It’s a special moment and can create a great football atmosphere and I think we can make it ours.”

When asked what he thought of Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim, Arteta said: "Especially from the perspective of their games against big clubs, their performances and the results they have achieved are very impressive."

“I know him well, having followed him when he was coaching in Portugal, and there are important reasons why he is in the position he is in now and he totally deserves to be there.”
