Riot Games Launches Legends Ascend South Asia Tournament

Riot Games, the developer of League of Legends, has officially announced the launch of a new event under the League of Legends Championship Pacific (LCP) ecosystem - Legends Ascend South Asia. This wildcard tournament is aimed at amateur teams in South Asia, offering not only generous prize money, but also a valuable opportunity to advance to the LCP wildcard playoffs.
According to the official press release, this event is co-organized by Riot Games and Aftermath Ventures, aiming to inject "a new and bold chapter" into the e-sports ecosystem in South Asia.
Legends Ascend will run for four months and will include online qualifiers, a league phase and a double-elimination playoffs, with teams competing for a share of a total prize pool of INR 1 million (approximately £8,796).
Arun Rajappa, General Manager of Riot Games India and South Asia, said: “Legends Ascend was born to give South Asian gamers a real chance to pursue their dreams of playing League of Legends competitively. This is an important step towards a stronger and more connected local community where we hope players and fans will find more opportunities to participate, grow, and belong.”
This year's Legends Ascend is open to League of Legends players from the following countries:
India
Pakistan
Bangladesh
Sri Lanka
Nepal
Bhutan
Maldives
Registration for the event will open on April 27, 2025, and will last until August 3. The winning team will receive a spot in the LCP wildcard playoffs, and will have the opportunity to compete in the LCP promotion and relegation tournament, paving the way for entry into the top Pacific region.
