Southeast Asian powerhouse Talon Esports announced its strong return, successfully qualifying for the 2025 Esports World Cup with its outstanding performance in the semi-finals of the 26th season of Dota 2 DreamLeague.
Talon Esports successfully obtained enough ESL Professional Tour (EPT) points to rank among the top eight in the standings, and obtained a direct invitation to the 2025 Esports World Cup "Dota 2" event, advancing to the annual event with a total prize of US$3 million.
In this DreamLeague, Talon Esports qualified as the third place in the first round of the group stage, beating Gaimin Gladiators and Team Falcons. After entering the second stage, they defeated BetBoom Team, Yakult Brothers, Nigma Galaxy and the strong rival Gaimin Gladiators.
Although Talon Esports subsequently lost to PARIVISION and Aurora Gaming, it still managed to secure a top four spot, and thus jumped to seventh place in EPT, earning a direct ticket to the Esports World Cup.
The key to this success is the return of the core Thai player 23savage. After 23savage returned to Talon Esports in May, he teamed up with his former teammate, Indonesian mid laner Mikoto, to recreate the golden combination that shone in the 2023 Talon Esports Lima Major and Riyadh Masters.
With the addition of new members Ws`, Jhocam and veteran captain KuKu, Talon Esports' strength has been greatly improved, successfully breaking the silence of Southeast Asian teams in international competitions this year.
The 2025 Dota 2 E-sports World Cup will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from July 8 to 19, when 16 top teams from around the world will compete for a $3 million prize. For Talon Esports, DreamLeague's success is not only a breakthrough in performance, but also an opportunity for Southeast Asian Dota 2 to enter the world stage.
