Darwin Nunes says he is dealing with tough times but won't give up

Darwin Nunez admitted he is "going through a tough time" at the moment after scoring twice for Liverpool against Brentford.

Although Brentford showed tenacious defense under the leadership of Thomas Frank, they were ultimately unable to withstand Liverpool's fierce attack. The Reds fired 37 shots in the game, and finally won 2-0 with two goals from Nunez in injury time, continuing to stay at the top of the league.

Nunez has been criticized for his poor form recently. Before the match against Brentford, the Uruguayan striker had only scored four goals in 26 appearances in all competitions this season, and this poor performance has sparked speculation that Liverpool may sell him in the winter transfer window.

After the game, Nunez spoke candidly about his recent predicament and the psychological challenges he faced in an interview with Sky Sports. He said: "I think we have to stay strong mentally and never give up. Yes, there are always some very difficult moments for us players, and now is such a stage for me. But I never give up easily. I have been training hard, and if I need to stay and practice more, I will stay and improve myself. I also pay attention to helping the team defend during the game, and I have always done well in this regard. But I know that people pay more attention to whether the striker scores, and I have indeed not been able to score recently."

Speaking of his predicament, Nunez stressed the importance of perseverance and staying mentally strong: "The truth is, I'm going through a tough time right now. As I said before, I'm focused on my job and doing my best for Liverpool. I think it's important to keep a clear head and I always tell myself to work hard because I need to improve. I persevere with this mentality, plus the support of my family and fans, they are really amazing."

Liverpool's upcoming schedule is still tight. They will face Lille in the Champions League on Tuesday, and then face Ipswich in the Premier League on January 25.
