Mikel Arteta says the team is very lacking in attack

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said the team is "very short" in attack and needs to bring in new players in the January transfer window. In the game against Aston Villa on Saturday, Arsenal once led by two goals, but eventually lost to the opponent two goals in a row and missed the victory.

Arsenal looked set to win easily 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium, but Villa scored twice in eight minutes to turn the tide. The Gunners are currently missing seven players due to injury, including three academy graduates on the bench. Meanwhile, Darwin Nunez, Liverpool's £85 million (US$103 million) signing, came off the bench against Brentford and scored two crucial goals to help the team stay at the top of the Premier League. Arteta said: "When you look at our performance, I don't know how many teams can play at this level in the league, but when you look at the bench, you might say that we are indeed very short of it. There were some key moments in the game. Liverpool can do that. They made substitutions and the substitutes played a role and changed the game. The opposite is true for us. Even after the opponent scored two goals in eight minutes, I was worried because I knew the physical condition of the team and we might collapse. However, the team suddenly found another level of state, pressed forward again, forced Aston Villa back into the penalty area, and kept looking for scoring opportunities, although they failed in the end."

Currently, Arsenal is six points behind the top of the Premier League standings Liverpool, who have one game less. If Arsenal cannot strengthen in the January transfer window, coupled with the injuries of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus, they may miss the Premier League title again.

Arsenal will host Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League group stage on Wednesday.
