Haaland feels the club is now full of positive energy and has come out of the trough

Erling Haaland says he never considered the consequences of the club losing its legal dispute with the Premier League when he signed a nine-and-a-half-year contract extension at Manchester City.

City could face relegation if they are found to have breached more than 100 of the Premier League's financial rules, but Haaland has made clear his confidence in the club's hierarchy to deliver the desired result.

Manchester City is preparing to face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday night. This game is crucial for both teams because it is related to whether they can stay within the top 24 of the standings in the new competition system, otherwise they will be eliminated.

When asked whether he asked the club to provide guarantees to deal with potential worst-case scenarios before signing this rare long contract in Premier League history, Haaland smiled and replied: "No, I haven't thought about it. I have full confidence in the club's decision. Besides, I don't think I should talk more about it. I have been here for two and a half years, and I believe the club knows what it is doing."

City have won four of their last five games, including a 6-0 thumping of Ipswich Town on Sunday, with Haaland proving himself with goals immediately after signing his new contract.

Haaland said: "I feel that the club is full of positive energy now. It has been difficult in the past period of time, which is well known, but I feel the energy. Our training is very good, we have come out of the trough and are now focusing on the future and tomorrow's game."

Haaland also mentioned that the new contract is "extraordinary and I like it very much". He said that he really enjoys life in Manchester City and revealed that he has made some adjustments in self-management this season, including "monitoring sleep and ensuring sleep quality."
