Tencent and TiMi Esports announced on their official websites on Tuesday that all global Honor of Kings professional e-sports events will adopt the Global Ban & Pick competition format.
According to TiMi Esports' official statement, this competition format will be format throughout the 2025 season and will be implemented for the first time at the Manila Invitational in February.
The Global Ban & Pick competition format is also aimed at improving fair competition among players.
Under the implementation of the Global Ban & Pick format, heroes that have been used by one side in the regular season BO5 cannot be used again; heroes in the first 6 games of the playoffs BO7 cannot be reused, and the 7th game adopts "Ultimate Battle" (the two sides of the game cannot see the other side's lineup selection), and 5 heroes can be selected without restrictions.
It is worth mentioning that this type of competition format has recently been introduced by Riot Games into the 2025 season of League of Legends, and it has gained a very positive response.
The Honor of Kings Invitational Manila will be held at the SM City North Edsa Hall in Manila, the capital of the Philippines, from February 21 to March 1. This is the first time that TiMi Esports will add an Honor of Kings professional e-sports tournament in the Philippines.
At the time, 12 top e-sports teams from around the world (excluding teams that advance from the regional qualifiers in each tournament) will compete for a prize pool of up to US$300,000.
