Recently, Valve officially announced that the 2025 Dota 2 International Invitational will be held at the Barclays Arena in Hamburg, Germany from September 11th to 14th.
Valve wrote in an official statement: "Fourteen years ago, TI first appeared on the world stage in Germany, with only a few dozen spectators in person. Fourteen years later, TI will once again open this cosmic e-sports feast at the Barclays Arena in Hamburg. We believe that the number of spectators this time will far exceed that year to witness this epic showdown."
The Barclays Arena, the venue for this event, can accommodate 16,000 spectators and will provide a perfect stage for the world's top teams to show their strength. This is also the first time that TI has returned to Germany since the first event was held in Cologne, Germany at Gamescom in 2011, which has special historical significance.
From 2011 to 2025, this e-sports event has lasted for fourteen years and has traveled all over the world, including Seattle, Vancouver, Bucharest, Shanghai, Singapore and Copenhagen.
While announcing the venue of the event, Valve also revealed that the 16 participating teams will be selected through direct invitation, open qualifiers and regional qualifiers. However, the specific invitation rules and qualifier arrangements have not yet been announced, and more details need to wait for further official disclosure. Valve also reminded players to pay attention to ticket sales and updates on the competition schedule.
As one of the world's top e-sports events, TI has attracted the attention of countless fans. The 2024 event saw a peak showdown between Team Liquid and Gaimin Gladiators, and the final stage set a record of 1.43 million real-time viewers.
Last year, Valve also made an important decision to cancel all in-game advertisements and sponsored content during the competition to ensure that players and spectators can focus fully on the game.
2025 is not only an important year for TI to return to Germany, but also a very busy year for Dota 2 events. In addition to TI, several well-known event organizations will hold a series of high-level competitions, such as ESL Pro Tour, Esports World Cup, etc. The craze for Dota 2 will continue to heat up around the world.
