Borussia Dortmund officially announce the sacking of head coach Nuri Şahin..

Borussia Dortmund announced on its official website on Wednesday that the club's Turkish head coach Nuri Şahin has been sacekd effective immediately.

According to Dortmund's official statement, after the club's disastrous 2-1 loss to Bologna in the UEFA Champions League a few days ago, the management's patience for Sahin has reached its limit, thus they had to make the decision to part ways with him.

After this, before the new head coach is finalized, Dortmund's U19s head coach Mike Tullberg will temporarily take over the first-team head coaching duties.

Currently, rumours about Şahin's successor are rife, and the most popular candidate is former Beijing Guoan and Benfica head coach Roger Schmidt.

Another potential candidate is former Bayern Munich head coach Niko Kovač.

Although it is claimed that BVB may consider appointing former Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag, however Sky Sports Germany had denied the rumoyr, saying that the former Ajax head coach still has a clause with the Red Devils that he cannot coach other clubs immediately in the near future, otherwise he will not only lose his release clause, but also have to pay a sky-high compensation fee, so Ten Hag will not be included in the list of considerations.

In fact, as early as the end of October, there were already rumoured online that it was only a matter of time before Dortmund sack let Şahin, but the former Turkey international legendary midfielder who played tfor BVB still failed to escape the fate of being unpopular with others.

About Nuri Şahin

Şahin, who is only 36 years old, was born in Ludenscheid, Germany on September 5, 1988. He is 1.8 meters tall. He played as a defensive midfielder during his playing career and has dual German and Turkish citizenship.

In addition, he also played for Real Madrid, Feyenoord, and Liverpool, winning the La Liga once and the KNVB Cup once.

In August 2020, Şahin joined Alanyaspor, and chose to retire in October of the following year as he was appointed as their head coach.

In August 2023, Şahin returned to Borussia Dortmund as an assistant coach.

Last summer, after the resignation of former head coach Edin Terzić, Sahin was promoted to the role of BVB's new head coach.
