Napoli beat Juventus, Conte says team's efforts paid off

With goals from Anguisa and Lukaku, Napoli defeated Juventus 2-1 in the 22nd round of the 2024/25 Serie A. Conte said that the result of this game proved that the team's efforts will eventually pay off, and that this victory has added more confidence to his team.

Yildiz's pass in the 43rd minute was cleared by Anguissa, and Muani seized the opportunity and volleyed the ball into the goal, helping Juventus take the lead 1-0.

In the 57th minute of the second half, Politano made a diagonal pass, and Anguisa immediately headed in and scored, helping Napoli to tie the score at 1-1. In the 69th minute, McTominay was brought down, giving Napoli a penalty kick. Later, Lukaku scored from the penalty kick, helping Napoli to overtake 2-1.

In the end, Napoli defeated Juventus 2-1 at home. After winning seven consecutive games, Napoli currently ranks first in the standings with 53 points.

Napoli coach Conte said, "This was a great performance against a great, unbeaten team with a strong squad. This victory brings us great satisfaction and proves that hard work pays off."

"Even if we lose players at the last minute, like Oliveira yesterday with a calf injury, we are able to make up for it with effort and will. I can't stress enough that we are continuing to work hard and I am lucky to have a group of players that I trust completely."

Conte also said, "The consecutive victories over Atalanta and Juventus have boosted our confidence. We have had to deal with some situations that may pose a threat to any team, but we are not immersed in loss. Sometimes I also ask myself what this team is missing. But as a leader, you must learn to evaluate the existing resources and work hard to make changes in this regard."

“The players completely believe in what we are doing and if we look at the data we will probably be surprised by the change compared to last season. But don’t forget that in the past there was a huge gap between Napoli and teams like Juventus, Inter Milan and Atalanta, but we have turned that around.”
