Riot Games will launch the League of Legends Game Changers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa in April, Sheep Esports reported on Wednesday. The program aims to provide a professional competitive platform for women and marginalized gender groups while promoting the diversity of the e-sports industry .
Although some details have yet to be finalized, the core framework of the League of Legends Changers Tournament has been basically determined. The event is expected to be divided into two seasons: the first season lasts from early April to mid-May, and the second season lasts from late July to mid-September. Each season will have a group stage and a playoff to ensure fair and intense competition.
Sheep Esports also pointed out that Riot Games is looking for at least 8 LEC teams to participate in the League of Legends Changers Tournament, including G2 Hel, SK Gaming Avarosa and Vitality Rising Bees. ERL teams such as Galions Pearl, Solary Academie, GameWard Astralsdeng are also under consideration, but it is not clear whether they will be directly invited or need to compete for a place through the qualifiers.
The qualifiers for the League of Legends Changeling Series will kick off in March, hosted by SK Gaming. Most of the events are expected to be held remotely, but there are reports that Riot Games is considering arranging the season 2 finals as an offline event, possibly in conjunction with the LEC annual circuit.
