Spanish League of Legends powerhouse Movistar KOI (MKOI) confirmed on Wednesday that its roster will remain unchanged for the 2026 LEC season.
This news was personally confirmed by its co-owner Ibai Llanos during a Twitch livestream.
During the livestream, Llanos stated that the club believed continuing with the original roster was the most appropriate decision to maintain the team's current excellent performances.
The club will also make every effort to negotiate contract extensions with the players to ensure that the roster remains composed of these core players beyond 2026.
According to a report from the foreign media outlet Esports Insider, all of MKOI's players and coaches currently have contracts expiring in November 2026.
The report indicates that while MKOI will attempt to renew their contracts, not all players are currently being considered.
It is reported that MKOI did not particularly prioritize renewing the contracts of bot laner Supa and top laner Myrwn, instead opting to observe the situation before deciding whether to renew their contracts.
The other starting players from roster, especially Canadian-Korean mid laner Jojopyun, who has showcased his outstanding performances since joining the team from Cloud9 (C9) at the end of last year, is the player the club wants to prioritize renewing the most.
Regarding Sheep Esports rumour which that former G2 coach Alphari will join MKOI as an assistant coach, Esports Insider offers a different perspective.
The latter suggests that since MKOI will be establishing a second academy team, similar to Karmine Corp (KC), Alphari might first become an assistant coach for that new academy team.
Current indications suggest he is unlikely to become an assistant coach for their existing academy team, KOI Fénix.
In any case, it is too early to conclude that he will definitely return to the LEC as an assistant coach for the main team.
This year has been a very successful one for MKOI.
Since Jojopyun joined the team, MKOI has been virtually invincible in the League of Legends scene this year.
MKOI won the LEC Spring Split and finished as runner-up in the Summer Split.
MKOI also achieved great results at the 2025 League of Legends World Championship.
Although they narrowly lost to T1, led by "Korea's pride" Faker, and were eliminated in the final round of the group stage, this is not a disgrace for MKOI, who have consistently achieved at least a top-11 finish throughout the year.
