The second round of the group stage of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations continued, with defending champions Ivory Coast and Cameroon facing off. After 90 minutes of intense play, the two sides ultimately drew 1-1.
Ivory Coast and Cameroon exchanged attacks early on, but neither managed to score. In the 7th minute, Jan Diomande passed the ball from the left flank to the center, where Ahmad Diallo's shot from the edge of the box went wildly high. In the 11th minute, Junior Chamadeu switched the ball long from the right wing to the far post, where Darin Yunwa, unmarked, unleashed a powerful shot that went wide to the left. In the 21st minute, Chamadeu delivered a cross from the right, and Cristian Cofane's shot from the center was saved by Yahya Fofana. In the 42nd minute, Ahmad crossed from the right at a 45-degree angle, and Wakoan Bayo's header at the far post went over the crossbar.
After the break, Cameroon took the initiative, launching an attack on Ivory Coast immediately after kickoff. However, Dani Namaso's final shot lacked accuracy. Ivory Coast responded in the 47th minute with a goal from Frank Kessie, but the goal was disallowed for offside.
In the 51st minute, Guilan Konan's long pass from midfield found Ahmad on the right wing, who advanced to the edge of the penalty area and unleashed a powerful shot to give Ivory Coast the lead. However, their lead lasted only about five minutes: Chamadeu's shot deflected off Konan and into the net, allowing Cameroon to equalize with an own goal.
Seeing that both sides had returned to a level playing field, Ivory Coast opted to launch a counter-attack. In the 60th minute, Kessie's header inside the penalty area was quite threatening, but it was easily caught by Divis Mcoba. In the 70th minute, Ahmad delivered a diagonal pass from the attacking third, and Bayo's header inside the penalty area went wide to the right.
Neither side managed to score again. The match ended in a 1-1 draw between Ivory Coast and Cameroon.
