Matthäus Fernández: We need to learn to control the game; only by winning three points can we improve our ranking.

West Ham United midfielder Lothar Fernandes has expressed his desire for a positive result for his team in their away match against Wolverhampton Wanderers. He believes this would help West Ham launch a strong run in the Premier League, following their 2-2 draw against Brighton on Wednesday.
Encouraged by the previous clash and finding areas for improvement, Matthäus Fernández and his teammates have been training hard since returning to Rushgreen. They hope to secure the highest points at Molineux Stadium to end their eight-game winless streak.
Matthäus Fernández said: "We got off to a good start against Brighton, scoring our first goal. We then tried to extend our lead and score a second goal, but they converted a penalty to make it 1-1. We scored again later, but the final score was 2-2."
"Overall, I think we played well in this match. Our opponents were also very strong, but we know we still have a lot to learn. We need to learn to control the game, because only by winning these three points can we start to improve our ranking."
“However, I always try to find the positive side and focus on staying optimistic. We know that one game can change everything, so right now our focus is on the game against Wolves, where we will travel to the away game and strive for victory.”
Wolves, playing at home, are bottom of the Premier League table in the 2025/26 season and have yet to win a match. However, they ended an 11-game losing streak with a 1-1 draw against Manchester United in their last game. Since joining from Southampton this summer, Matthäus Fernandes has made 17 appearances for West Ham United and established himself as a key player in the starting lineup.
Importantly, the team needs to focus on itself and the factors it can control, as they must work to close the four-point gap with 17th-placed Nottingham Forest. He added: "Every game is very important to us, and we know that every team has the ability. But we also have excellent players, and we will be fully prepared."
"We will make full preparations and strive to win the game. We are aware that the current situation is unfavorable, but we will do our best to get points and get out of the current predicament."
