Wolverhampton Wanderers completes contract extension with Brazil international forward Matheus Cunha..

Wolverhampton Wanderers announced on their official website on Tuesday that the club has extended the contract of its Brazil international forward Matheus Cunha.

According to Wolves' official statement, Cunha has signed on a new long-term four-and-a-half-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2029.

With this contract extension, it also confirms that the previous rumours claiming that Arsenal "planned" to sign Cunha during the winter transfer window to "replace" the injured Bukayo Saka were simply fake news.

About Matheus Cunha

Cunha, 25, was born on May 27, 1999 in João Pessoa, Brazil. He is 1.84 meters tall and primarily plays as a center forward, but can also play as a left winger.

Cunha played for the Coritiba youth academy when he was a child. He joined the Sion youth academy in 2017 and completed his Sion first-team debut in August of the same year.

As soon as he debuted, Cunha quickly attracted the attention of many big clubs with his outstanding performances.

The following summer, Cunha joined RB Leipzig for €15 million.

During the one and a half years he played for Leipzig, Cunha was shortlisted for the Puskas Goal Award for his wonder goal in the match against Bayer Leverkusen.

In January 2020, Cunha moved to Hertha Berlin for 18 million.

During this spell, he once again attracted the attention of big clubs with his high goalscoring efficiency and his outstanding performance in the Tokyo Olympics.

The following summer, Cunha joined Atlético Madrid for 30 million.

In January 2023, Cunha was loaned-out to Wolverhampton Wanderers. Later, his ownership was officially bought out in July of the same year.

Since becoming a member of Wolves, so far, Cunha has played 80 times for the Premier League club in all competitions, scoring 27 goals and providing 13 assists.
