Postecoglou says Matisse will stay at Spurs long term

Tottenham manager Angel Postecoglou says Matthijs de Ligt will not stay for just six months on loan from Bayern Munich but will be with Tottenham for the long term.

The 19-year-old French striker joined Tottenham on loan on the February transfer deadline, with a loan period until the end of the season and an optional buyout clause of £45 million. It is reported that Ter originally rejected Tottenham's permanent transfer offer, but finally agreed to join on loan. Postecoglou is confident that he will become an important part of Tottenham's future plans.

In an interview, Postecoglou made it clear: "He will be a Tottenham player, man. He will be a Tottenham player. I think in the next six months, he will prove it to everyone. I won't bring him in just for six months."

"He is a very talented player. When you talk to him, you can see that he is confident in himself and knows what he can and wants to do. Although he is young, he has the physical ability to play in a high-level league like the Bundesliga, and I believe he can also adapt to the Premier League. He has speed, can break through and score goals, which is really exciting."

According to L'Equipe, Chelsea tried to intercept the deal before Tell went to London to complete the signing, but the 19-year-old star finally chose Tottenham. Postecoglou revealed that he successfully persuaded Tell to join at the last minute.

"I quickly felt that we had established a connection and he heard what he wanted to hear. This was an important decision. After all, he is at a great club like Bayern. Bayern certainly wants him to stay, but he also knows that he needs stable game opportunities."

"But it's not just about playing, it's about playing in a place that can really help him grow. He was very careful in making his decision and didn't rush into any club but made his decision after careful consideration."

"I wasn't selling a false vision, I was showing him a real opportunity. For most players, what they need is confidence in the future, and that's what I can give them. I believe that my plan will become a reality. I don't need additional persuasion skills - the facts themselves are convincing enough."
