Due to the foreign player quota limit, former Liverpool star Firmino was removed from the league list by Jeddah National

Due to the foreign player quota limit, Jeddah National removed captain Roberto Firmino from the league list. This means that Firmino will miss the rest of the Saudi League this season and can only play in the Asian Champions League.

Jeddah National's new coach, Matias Yaisle, explained: "This is a difficult decision made by the club based on the rules." According to Saudi League regulations, each team can register up to ten foreign players, two of whom must be born in 2003 or later. With Brazilian striker Galeno joining from Porto for 50 million euros this winter, Firmino was excluded from the league lineup when Jeddah National's foreign aid quota was full.

Yaisle then added: "We respect Firmino and he has remained professional. He is still one of our leaders."

Roberto Firmino, 33, has won the Champions League, Club World Cup, Premier League, European Super Cup, FA Cup, English League Cup and Community Shield with Liverpool, and is also one of the main scorers for Brazil in the 2019 America's Cup.

In July 2023, Firmino left Liverpool as a free agent and joined Jeddah National. So far, he has made 59 appearances for Jeddah National, scoring 18 goals and providing 12 assists, helping the team rank fifth in the league with 12 wins, 2 draws and 5 losses and 38 points.

It is understood that Firmino may be considering a transfer. His contract with Jeddah National expires in June 2026, and he has received offers from Zamalek, Fenerbahce and other clubs. The leagues that are still open for transfers include the Turkish Super League (February 11), the Swedish Super League (February 17) and the MLS (April 23).
