Pep Guardiola: Although we lost the game, the team's performance in many aspects deserves praise

In the first leg of the Champions League play-offs, Manchester City played against Real Madrid and the team eventually lost to their opponent with a score of 2 to 3. Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola said that the team was very frustrated after losing to Real Madrid.

In this game, Manchester City took the lead against the reigning European champions twice with goals from Erling Haaland, while Kylian Mbappe also scored on the way. But just when Manchester City seemed to have victory, the game turned around, with Brahim Dias first equalizing for Real Madrid and then Jude Bellingham scoring the winning goal for the team in injury time.

It was a difficult match for Manchester City and Pep Guardiola was very sad to see his players try their best but fail in the final moments of the game.

Pep Guardiola said: "This is the fourth time we have played Real Madrid here and in the previous three games we were much better than them. But today the game was intense, they created chances in some moments and Ederson Moraes was the best player in our team."

“It’s like this sometimes, one team plays better but the result is not what you want. I thought they played well in the first 15 minutes and then we controlled the game and had good possession. In the second half we didn’t pass the ball as we needed to, we wanted to attack quickly but when they have strikers we attack too fast and that made it more difficult.”

"We have to look at ourselves anyway because it's not the first time this has happened, it has happened so many times and that's why it's so difficult."

"The team deserves praise for many aspects of their performance, but the result affected the game on the night. We knew who we were playing against, but the result was what it was and that's why we are here. Of course, we did a lot of good things, but things can be improved."

"I always praise the quality of the opponent but when you see the result in the end it's difficult. It has happened before and it's difficult for the players. I think about how they suffer because they do everything but we can't make firm choices at some point.
