Cloud9 (C9) to dissolve its Counter Strike 2 (CS2) department again...

American e-sports powerhouse Cloud9 (C9) announced on its official X (Twitter) account on Saturday that after manager Sweetypotz and coach Groove chose to leave the team, the team also regretfully decided to dissolve its Counter Strike 2 (CS2) department again.

According to C9's official statement, the team is very grateful to Sweetypotz and Groove, as well as every former player who has played for the team during this period and all the fans who have given them warm support. Although the team currently has no plans to return to the CS2 professional competitive e-sports circle, they will not give up examining every opportunity to return.

In fact, as early as December 2024, rumours alleging that Cloud9 (C9) might be dissolving again had been circulating on the Internet.

HeavyGod (Rifler), a player in the team's last roster, has moved to G2.

Boombl4 (In-game leader) and Ax1Le (Rifler) have joined BetBoom Team (BB).

Kazakh AWP-er wonderkid ICY joined Virtus.pro, and support Rifler interz also parted ways with the team.

In fact, although C9 is one of the powerhouses in the Counter Strike 2 (CS2) professional competitive e-sports circle, since winning the IEM Dallas 2022, they have performed poorly in many subsequent major tournaments.

In the IEM Katowice 2025 that ended recently, C9 only made it to the top 16, and even suffer early elimination in the Perfect World Shanghai Major Opening Stage 2024 last year.
