Augsburg announced on Thursday that RB Leipzig attacker Fayke Sakaar will officially join them on a free transfer this summer after his contract expires. The two sides have signed a four-year contract, valid until June 30, 2030.
The 18-year-old Sakar primarily plays as a center forward, but can also play as an attacking midfielder, left winger, and other positions. He joined RB Leipzig's youth academy in 2022 and made his Bundesliga debut for the first team in December 2024.
Aside from one appearance in the Bundesliga, Sakar primarily represented RB Leipzig's U17 and U19 teams in the UEFA Youth League. He also represented Germany's U15, U16, and U17 teams in various competitions.
Regarding the signing, Augsburg's sporting director, Beni Weber, commented: "Fayk Sakar is a perfect fit for our sporting and strategic plans, and he is also a young player with great potential. He chose Augsburg because we can develop a clear plan for him to help him grow into a Bundesliga player."
After signing the contract, Sakar said, "Augsburg provides an ideal environment for young players to grow step by step. There are many successful examples to prove this. I am sure that joining Augsburg is the right choice for my development, so I am very happy to become a member of Augsburg this summer."
