Ezri Konsa was delighted that his teammates overcame a tough opening period to secure victory

Ezri Konsa praised his side's ability to adapt as Aston Villa staged a second-half comeback to beat Chelsea 2-1.

Chelsea took the lead against Aston Villa through Enzo Fernandes, but Marco Asensio sealed the win with one minute left in regulation time.

Ezri Konsa, who missed Aston Villa's last two games through injury, was delighted for his team-mates after a difficult opening period.

After the game, Ezri Konsa said: "I think it was a game of two halves and obviously they scored early and put us at a disadvantage. They got rid of our pressure well and we had to adapt. It was very important to start well in the second half and we put them under a lot of pressure."

"I think we adapted well and that's the most important thing, we adapted to the pressure they put on us. In the second half, we opened up a lot more space. It's not easy but to be able to adapt as players I think is really important."

"We have had a lot of ups and downs this season, and there have been a lot of instability. However, after the last two home draws, we have to make sure we can get the three points today."

Furthermore, Ezri Konsa discussed the confidence the team has gained from their fighting spirit and character as they showed the ability to recover from being behind and emerge victorious in the match. Ezri Konsa hopes the team can maintain this momentum in the upcoming matches.

Ezri Konsa also said: "I think the team's confidence has always been there. As players, we have always believed in ourselves. This season, sometimes things didn't go the way we wanted. We played a lot of draws at home. We have only lost one game at home in the Premier League this season."

“There were many games where we shouldn’t have drawn and got three points, but today’s victory will give us a lot of encouragement for the next games.”
