Athletic Bilbao announced on its official website on Saturday that the has club has extended the contract of its Mexico international goalkeeper Alex Padilla.
According to Athletic Bilbao's official statement, Padilla, whose contract was originally scheduled to expire in the summer of 2026, has signed on a new three-year contract with the club, and his new contract will run until the summer of 2029. According to the La Liga regulations, Padilla's release clause will also increase to €150 million.
About Alex Padilla
Alex Padilla, now only 23 years old, was born on September 1, 2003 in Zarautz, the autonomous region of the Basque Country in Spain. He is 1.9 meters tall and plays as a goalkeeper. He has dual nationalities of Spain and Mexico.
Padilla played for the youth academy of his hometown club Zarautz when he was a child. He joined the Athletic Bilbao youth academy in 2019, started playing for Athletic Bilbao B team in 2021, and completed his Athletic Bilbao first-team debut in August 2024.
